Internet Political Prophecies And Subversive Material For Cool People

Hooray for Joan Baez!!!

Posted by jeremiasx on February 13, 2007

This warms my heart! For those of you who don’t know…my brother is dating her niece Pearl and has been for some time…they work together at the Esalen institute in Big Sur…I suggest it to anyone who is seeking healing or spiritual growth as a great place to go.

Joan sang my mother to sleep the night before she passed to eternity after flying home to be with me once more, even if she died at the airport. I love this woman for many reasons, if for no other than this, she is an inspiration:

(From FoxNews GRRR Straker Report)

Covering the red carpet at the Grammy awards Sunday, we were happy to have the chance to talk to singing and songwriting legend Joan Baez as she made her way into the Staples Center.

Indeed, she was on her way over to talk to Anita Vogel and I when her publicist wisked her away shouting, “They’re FOX. We don’t talk to FOX.”

We were a bit flabbergasted, but it is what it is. Although it is a shame because of all the activists in the music industry who have something to say, particularly about the war in Iraq, Baez’s is probably the most informed voice.

Having lived in Iraq as a young girl (her father was a noted physicist who moved often for work) and taking into account her storied history with activism, it might have been nice to hear her point of view.

Apparently her publicist didn’t think so. (I’m SURE Joan didn’t care to talk to Bill O’Reilly et all…I don’t blame her a BIT…more people should follow suit and not give these clowns any more material to use for their circus.)

Joan has a rich history of protesting wars…here’s a picture of her being arrested in the Vietnam era…

I’ve never seen her perform live other than on the television, or even met her in person…unfortunately I’ve not yet had the chance…I live all the way across the country from her. (The U.S. is a large place…sometimes a little too big seemingly.)

Yes, I was so happy for Joan Baez! Great singer, and it was great how she protested in the time of Vietnam war. Wish there should be some like her doing it now!!

The Dixie Chicks, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Pink, Eminem, John Cougar Mellencamp, Willie Nelson…there are plenty of artists out there besides the ones I just mentioned but they are all trying to raise the awareness of the American people. It’s not their job, but I’m sure glad they take a little time out of making the big money to do it.
